Luton Borough Council stops the implementation of Selective Licensing in Luton

On the 20th August 2020, Luton Borough Council formally stopped the implementation of Selective Licensing in Luton.

The Landlord Selective Licensing scheme, which aims to drive up standard in privately rented accommodation in certain designated areas of the town, was due to be introduced on 1 August 2020.

The decision not to implement the scheme at this stage is based on an error made in the figures set out in the original report. However, we are still keen to continue to work with landlords in our work to help drive up standards in the town and will be undertaking a further review to gauge the current need for/scope of any new Licensing scheme.
